Welcome to the Whitbourne Chapel page
Do you know where we are?
We're on the same lane from Temple as St Mary's Church, but we're a bit further up the hill towards Longleat. Come and have a look round when there's nobody there, if you'd like to. However, we'd much prefer it if you'd care to come to a service sometime. Details are in The Bridge or on our website.
Our services are very informal, taken by visiting preachers or our own members. There are between 20 and 30 of us, ranging from teenagers to the nineties. On the whole we like the good old traditional hymns. We have easily accessible toilets and a small car park.
There's a friendly atmosphere in the chapel, which was built by local enterprise just over 200 years ago. Special features are the open-air baptistry, the pipe organ which may have been given by Longleat, more recently a beautifully embroidered banner, a cushion for the preacher, candlesticks and collection plates donated by local friends.
